MY LIFE STORY

Naomi Brown

Naomi Brown is an Australian composer, specialising in writing music for film and media, as well as classical music. Her concert works often convey a story or evoke strong programmatic imagery.

Naomi was chosen to have her string quartet “A Storm in the Mountains” performed by one of Australia’s most loved chamber ensembles, the Flinders Quartet, at their inaugural Composers Workshop in 2016. The work was the opening piece of the concert which was streamed live on 14 December 2016 by 5stream.

She has recently written a mammoth and exciting new work for bassoon and string ensemble, for bassoon virtuoso, Matthew Neale.

Naomi began rigorous music composition training with film composer Amy Bastow (James Cameron’s “Deepsea Challenge 3D, Home & Away, Hamish & Andy’s “True Story”), writing music for a variety of genres and ensembles, as well as studying orchestration, music theory and production.

She lives in the Dandenong Ranges in Melbourne’s outer east with her husband and three children.
