This is a choral work for eight voices based on the text of Philippians 4:4-8. The text was written nearly 2,000 years ago to a group of people suffering many difficulties and hardships yet the writer (Paul) encourages them still to rejoice.

At the start of 2020 this text was used as a devotion at my workplace (little knowing what the year held), and we were encouraged in the same way, in that, though the year ahead may have difficulties we still have reason to rejoice. During the devotion I heard in my head a quiet voice singing “rejoice” and this piece started from there………
